Visit Broadstairs

Formerly the home of Mary Pearson Strong, on whom Charles Dickens based the character of Betsey Trotwood in his book David Copperfield, this house has been transformed into a museum to celebrate the novelist's association with the fine town of Broadstairs.

The parlour is furnished as described by Dickens and filled with illustrations by H. K. Browne (Phiz). Some of the writer’s personal letters and memorabilia are available to look at too. Around the house there are interesting old prints of nearby and Dickensian intrigue as well as costumes and Victoriana.
